Slave Trade, one of the most tragical chapter of human history, has cost the lives of millions of men, women and children, captured and shipped across the Atlantic Ocean to be sold as slaves. This forced migration has had dramatic consequences and repercussions over the course of history. It has had a significant impact over relationships between civilizations and their evolution in every aspect. Nevertheless, this chapter of history has been largely ignored. A strong testimony about slavery, its reality throughout history and unfortunately nowadays, must go beyond the edification of a memorial, a statue or an access to archives. It calls for the creation of a space to remember and overall to understand slave trade and slavery. This strong testimony must give everyone a chance to fulfill his duty to remember and bring closure to his grief over this chapter of history that no one can rewrite. It must give, more than anything else, the opportunity to educate the new and future generations faced with modern slavery and discriminations of all kinds. This memory and education duty, of a worldwide dimension, just like slavery and slave trade, require, for today and tomorrow, the creation of a significant educational medium: THE CREATION OF AN EDUCATIONAL MEDIUM: A SLAVE SHIP CALLED LA FRATERNITE ![]() LE BATEAU PEDAGOGIQUE ® |
